Dear New Mom- Don't Compare Yourself to Kate Middleton
Dear New Mom,
Ok, we've all seen the pics of Kate Middleton gingerly making her way out of the hospital in the white and yellow dress with perfect hair and makeup, waving to the masses.
If you've just had a baby and are feeling a little crappy, it's time for a reality check.
A everyday mom doesn't have a team of stylists standing by to start on hair and makeup the second she pops out her kid. There is no facial contouring, mascara, blowouts, or curling irons in any of our hospital rooms.
When the everyday mom meets her baby for the first time she doesn't have to put on pantyhose and a nice dress.
She doesn't have to spend her pregnancy worrying that if she gains too much weight the press will start to tear her to shreds.
Take a step back and realize that comparing your life to that a celebrity mom is insane.
It's their job to look good in front of millions whether they are promoting a film, cutting a ribbon, or have just given birth.
It's your job to figure out how to make a sitz bath and try to recover from what was probably the most intense few moments of your life.
It's time to stop comparing and start seeing the beauty in your own life: the beauty that has nothing to do with whether or not you have a professional stylist.
