Three Reasons Your Elf on the Shelf Didn't Move Last Night

'Tis the season to wake up at 5AM in a panic, suddenly remembering that your family's Elf on the Shelf didn't move last night. Or worse, hearing your children say, "Why didn't Sparkle change positions?" as they look at you with disappointment in their eyes.

If Cinnamon the elf forgets to move, here are three perfectly reasonable explanations.

Three Reasons Your Elf on the Shelf Didn't Move Last Night

1. "Glitter is still jet-lagged from the North Pole." Flying all the way from Santa's workshop to your home was no easy feat. Sometimes your elf is going to need to take a little break. If she does, let her know you don't mind. She'll probably do something fun tomorrow.

2. "He wants us to take a photo!" Some elves are more...vain than others. If your elf held their position for more than 24 hours it's probably because the diva wanted you to snap a couple of pics. Kardashian the Elf?

3. "She must be hungry." Just like mommy and daddy need their coffee, sometimes all an elf needs is a pick-me-up to get going. Leave a candy cane, a few gum drops, or even a thimble full of sugar (elves have great dental plans) out and see what happens.

Remember, the Elf on the Shelf tradition isn't about being a perfection, it's about making memories. Cut yourself some slack!
